Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration at Our Lady of Guadalupe

"Mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to My mercy."

Jesus told St. M. Faustina that the Blessed Sacrament is "the throne of mercy" on earth, and to daily "adore, in the Blessed Sacrament, My Heart, which is full of mercy."

(Divine Mercy Diary, 300, 1485 and 1572)

"I want adoration to take place - for the intention of imploring mercy for the world."

(Divine Mercy Diary, 1070)

"It is urgent that a choral invocation be raised from earth to heaven, to implore from the Almighty, in whose hands is the destiny of the world, the great gift of peace."

(Pope John Paul II, November 2001)

"The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. . .will help bring about an everlasting peace on earth."

(Mother Teresa of Calcutta)

"Adoration will heal our Church and thus our nation and thus our world. . .adoration is more powerful for construction than nuclear bombs are for destruction."

(Peter Kreeft, Theologian)

From Fr. Benedict Groeschel, CFR

Father Benedict Groeschel, CFR, is internationally known for his writing, lectures, and retreats, is a profound lover of the Eucharist. He is a modern-day advocate of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration. Through his ministry and communications, he encourages all to grow closer to Our Living God, through the habits of daily prayer, reception of the sacraments and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

"To increase our devotion with mystical sign, the consecrated Host, is exposed in a monstrance. The Host mysteriously fulfils Christ's promise of His presence. . .'This is my Body. . .this is my Blood.'

"The Church invites you to adore Him in His Eucharistic presence as a continuation of His presence in the Mass."

"Silence, reverence, gratitude, loving devotion can flood the soul if one is blessed to do this for an hour."

(Praying in the Presence of Our Lord,

by Fr. Benedict J. Groeschel, CFR.With permission of the author.)

From Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, preacher, teacher, writer, evangelist of the air-waves, and what he treasured above all else, priest, shed light and growth on the Society for the Propagation of the Faith worldwide. His style of preaching was easy to digest and appealed to may denominations. It brought converts to the Catholic church and opened doors of communication.

When he was ordained, he made a promise to make a Holy Hour daily before the Blessed Sacrament. For sixty years of  his priesthood he kept that promise. It was during his Holy Hour that he learned to listen and abandon himself totally to God's call. he always encouraged this practice in others, even non-Catholics. His strong convictions on the benefits of time spend in Eucharistic adoration were a powerful example to religious and laity alike. Of this practice he states:

"I keep up the Holy Hour to grow more and more into His likeness. . .Looking at the Eucharistic Lord for an hour transforms the heart in a mysterious way as the face of Moses was transformed after his companionship with God on the mountain.

The Holy Hour is not a devotion: it is a sharing in the work of redemption. "Could you not watch one hour with Me?' Not for an hour of activity did He plead, but for an hour of companionship.

The purpose of the Holy Hour is to encourage a deep personal encounter with Christ. The holy and glorious God is constantly inviting us to come to Him, to hold converse with Him and to ask such things as we need and to experience what a blessing there is in fellowship with him. One of the by-products of the Holy Hour was the sensitiveness to the Eucharistic Presence of Our Divine Lord,"

(Treasure in Clay, the autobiography of Fulton J. Sheen[1980])

Pope John Paul II Defender and Apostle of

Eucharistic Adoration

"I hope that this form of perpetual adoration, with permanent exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, will continue into the future."

(International Eucharistic Congress in

Seville, Spain, June 1993)

"Public and private devotion to the Holy Eucharist outside Mass is highly recommended: for the presence of Christ, who is adored by the faithful in the Sacrament, derives from the sacrifice and is directed towards sacramental and spiritual communion."

(Inaestimabile Donum, #20, 1980)

"The Church and the world have great need of Eucharistic adoration. Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love. Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Him in adoration and contemplation full of faith. And let us be ready to make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world. May our adoration never cease."

(Dominicae Cenae: Letter to Priests, Holy Thursday, 1980)

"Closeness to the Eucharistic Christ in silence and contemplation does not distance us from our contemporaries but, on the contrary, makes us open to human joy and distress, broadening our hearts on a global scale. Through adoration the Christian mysteriously contributes to the radical transformation of the world and to the sowing of the gospel. Anyone who prays to the Eucharistic Savior draws the whole world with him and raises it to God."

From Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Founder of the Missionary Sisters of Charity

Blessed Mother Teresa placed great value on the daily Holy Hour in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. She and her sisters depended upon this devotion to the Eucharist for the graces to accomplish their daily work among the poor. In fact, Blessed Mother Teresa attributed the success of their work and their growth in the Missionaries of Charity vocations to the many hours they spend in adoration.

In a letter to the people of St. Alexander Parish in Villa Park, Illinois, July 15, 1996, Blessed Mother Teresa wrote the following:

"I am very glad to know about the perpetual adoration movement in your parish. Thank God for His love for you - for His presence in you and the joy with which you love and serve Him in the Blessed Sacrament and in each other.

Each time one of us is a co-worker of Christ - we must labor hard to carry Him to the hearts where He has not yet been known and loved. But, unless we have Jesus, we cannot give Him; that is why we need the Eucharist. Spend as much time as possible in front of the Blessed Sacrament and He will fill you with His strength and His power. Tell Him, 'Come to our hearts Lord and stay with us.' Then you will become the instruments of His love, peace and joy."
